Looking for a cheap and free night out in Ottawa to make the most of summer?
Well, after a two-year hiatus,Capital Pop-Up Cinema hits various neighborhoods again. Now you can watch classic movies from the comfort of your own lawn chair or while snuggling up with your four-legged friend.
It is also a great way to visit different parts of the city. As a traveling pop-up event, performances will be presented at the Byward Market, Sparks Street, Beechwood Cemetery, Churchill Community Center and Parkdale Park.
“Nervous excitement. It’s been 2 years…hope you’re happy to see us again”, Capital Pop-Up Cinema posted on Instagram.
Programming started July 22and there are still so many movies to see until October 7th.
So what plays, you ask?
On August 4, you can catch Robin Hood: Men in Tights from the hustle and bustle of the ByWard Market. Then, on August 5, you can watch Back to the future part III at Beechwood Cemetery, what a classic franchise to catch!
Another must-see will be presented on August 19, when sister act arrives at Churchhill Community Centre.
And for all romance fans, The princess to be married will play at Beechwood Cemetery on August 26.
September is also filled with gems, including a face-off betweenclueless versus.mean girls, isle of dogsand beetle juice. How to fetch!
Finally, on October 7, there will be another cinematic face-off, but this time it’s the lost boys versus. The Goonies.
There will be popcorn, candies, drinks and even Krispy Kreme donuts available at the concession. Yum!
As a bonus, you can also bring your own soft drinks to these pop-ups. “Just stay hydrated. It’s hot out there,” organizers note on Facebook.
Shows start at 8 p.m.., but the organizers say to arrive early to get a good seat. So grab your comfiest blanket and watch some must-see movies for the rest of your summer!
