Wawa Welcome America is showing free movies across town from June 17 to July 4 as part of their Philly @ the Movies and Philly @ the Drive-in series.
You can enjoy fan favorites including “Rocky” and “Shrek” at a local park or from the comfort of your own car at a drive-in theater.
Here are all the free movies you can enjoy during the festival:
Philly @ the Movies: “Rocky”, June 20
“Rocky“is back on the famous steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for a fan favorite event of Wawa Welcome America. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy a Philly-centric night under the stars for a free screening of” Rocky ” .
Before the movie, grab a free Tastykake and Herr’s giveaway and listen to music from Philly’s DJ Hollywood. The film will start at 8 p.m.
Philly @ the Drive-in: “Tulsa: The Fire and the Forgotten”, June 21
The Philadelphia Film Society partners with the African American Museum of Philadelphia and WHYY to present “Tulsa: fire and the forgotten. ”
One hundred years after the destruction of the black-owned Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma – one of the worst incidents of racial violence in U.S. history – the film explores vital issues of atonement, reconciliation and repair.
Pre-registration is required for the 9 p.m. movie at PFS Drive-in at Navy Yard in South Philadelphia.
Philly @ the Movies: “Pitch Perfect”, June 23
Bring your blanket or chair and enjoy entertainment from local artists courtesy of the City of Philadelphia Bureau of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, followed by a free screening of “Perfect. ”
The event kicks off at 7 p.m., with one hour of free entertainment before the movie. It will take place at the Capitolo Playground in South Philadelphia.
Philly @ the Movies: “How to Train Your Dragon”, June 24
Enjoy a free screening of this family classic, following free arts activities for children starting at 7:00 p.m., courtesy of the City of Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy.
Be sure to pick up your free Tastykake and bag of Herr’s before the movie starts at 8 p.m. The event will take place at the Hank Gathers Recreation Center in North Philadelphia.
Philly @ the Drive-in: “Shrek”, June 29
You can look “Shrek“From the safety of your own car for free at PFS Drive-in at Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. Pre-registration is required for the 9 pm screening.
Guests can enjoy a free snack from Herr’s upon check-in, which begins at 8:00 p.m.
Philly @ the Movies: “Hidden Figures”, June 30
From 7 p.m., enjoy an exciting jazz performance by local artists, before a free screening of “Hidden numbers“, a true story of three brilliant black women from NASA who served as the brains of one of the biggest operations in history.
The film will take place at 8 p.m. at the Cherashore Playground in Olney.
