Neon Family Summer Film Festival

On Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11 a.m., THE NEON, in partnership with ThinkTV PBS and The Dayton Metro Library, will launch a 6-week series of FREE family movies on Saturday mornings. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. each week and tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The events will begin with reading videos with Ms. Winnie from the Dayton Metropolitan Library and continue with programming from the PBS Kids Library. Children will leave each screening with activity books and other materials to encourage continued learning during the summer.

Parents and caregivers will also receive resources to continue learning at home and avoid the “summer slide”. These documents are courtesy of ThinkTV and The Dayton Metro Library.

Featuring episodic shorts of popular characters from the PBS Kids library, the screenings will give families the opportunity to enjoy the movie-going experience together in a cost-effective way while keeping kids thoughtfully engaged.

Each Saturday will be dedicated to a different program:

June 11 – HERO ELEMENTARY; June 18 – “Dinosaur Day” with DINOSAUR TRAIN

June 25 – “Jungle Animal Day” with THE WILD KRATTS; July 2 – “Be My Neighbor Day” with DANIEL TIGER – this screening will be preceded by a hands-on event on the patio of THE NEON hosted by the Dayton International Peace Museum

July 9 – “Exploring the Library” with CURIOUS GEORGE – this screening will be followed by a “hands-on” event after the screening at the Dayton Metro Library Main Branch where children will have the opportunity to meet “Curious George” at 1 p.m.

July 16 – “Nature Day” with NATURE CAT
