Mumbaikars can now enjoy FREE movies, TV shows and more on local trains! Here’s how | Mobility News


To make travel more attractive and convenient, Central Railway and SugarBox Networks have launched “Content on Demand” service on local trains in Mumbai from February 11. Local train commuters in Mumbai will now be able to watch movies, TV shows and news for free. while traveling within the premises.

Anil Kumar Lahoti, Managing Director of Central Railway, said Central Railway is the backbone of public transport in Mumbai. “We are seeing 45 lakh passenger footsteps every day on our commuter network during pre-covid times. Often for commuters, this travel time is an opportunity to spend uninterrupted time on their devices. If we could empowering just by integrating technology into our services, then that could reinforce our goal of remaining forward-looking and customer-centric,” Lahoti said.

Speaking about creating solutions for Central Railway, Rohit Paranjpe, co-founder and CEO of SugarBox Networks, said Mumbaikars spend a lot of their time traveling, there is a need to ensure they have access to uninterrupted digital connectivity during transit. “Through this partnership, we aim to make Mumbai a stellar example of transit connectivity and turn it into a digitally equipped travel line,” he added.

This service is completely free, passengers will not have to pay any additional fees for the service. In addition to watching entertainment shows, passengers can shop without spending internet data. To take advantage of the free service, travelers will need to download the “Sugarbox” application. With the help of Central Railway and Sugarbox Networks, this service has only started on 10 local Central Railway trains, however, in the coming months the service will be launched on all trains, officials said. Sugarbox won’t charge anything, it’s free, no network hassles, passengers can listen and watch movies, soap operas, news and songs without any interruption, he added.
