One of the best parts of the Shrek movies were obviously Puss in Boots, interpreted brilliantly by Antonio Banderas. The adorable swashbuckling feline was so beloved by everyone that he would inevitably get his own feature film in 2011 with an exciting sequel Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will be released in theaters on September 23, 2022.

The sequel sees the return of Banderas voicing the titular cat, with Salma Hayek also back in the mix as Kitty Softpaws. It will also feature a host of newcomers, including Florence Pugh as Goldilocks, as well as Olivia Colman, Wagner Moura, Ray Winstone, John Mulaney, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Harvey Guillén.

The trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish reignited fan interest in the fan-favorite character of the Shrek franchise. But the big question that remains is, without a doubt, can Netflix subscribers enjoy the first film before the next chapter arrives?
