Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries offer new free movie streaming service

GOLETA, CA – The Goleta Valley and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries have announced the launch of their brand new video streaming service called Kanopy!

Kanopy is free for library users and offers over 30,000 ad-free movies for kids and adults, including documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films, and educational videos.

The library said these films can be viewed on your own TV, cellphone, tablet, or online.

Goleta Valley Library cardholders would receive 10 game credits on the first day of each month. A play credit can be used to watch a video and once a play credit has been spent, viewers will need to watch the video within three days before having to spend another play credit.

Kanopy Kids is also offered as a collection of children’s movies and shows available only in public libraries. At the Goleta or Santa Ynez Valley Library, children can enjoy an enriching, educational, and entertaining movie or TV series without using any of your credits.

Library Manager Allison Gray said, “We are thrilled to add Kanopy to the list of free services the Goleta Valley Library makes available to its patrons. The free streaming service has a wonderful collection of movies to choose from – there’s something for everyone!

Kanopy is available now. You can learn more and start watching movies on the Kanopy website here.
