Austin Parks Foundation offers free movies and fitness classes at area parks


The Austin Parks Foundation launches summer programming and celebrates 30 years of improving life in our communities through the improvement of our public parks.

APF has partnered with Rocket Cinema for multiple screenings of its Movies in the Park series. The program of free outdoor activities is as follows:

  • Thursday, June 23 At Dick Nichols Park | Movie: The Goonies
  • Thursday, July 28 At Colony District Park | Movie: The Mitchells Vs. The Machines
  • Friday, August 26 At Dove Springs District Park | Movie: Encanto (in Spanish)
  • Friday, September 23 At the Pan American Park | Movie: In the Heights
  • Friday, November 4 At Mueller Lake Park | Movie: Lucas
  • Friday, November 18 At Mueller Lake Park | Movie: Soul

In addition to the films, the APF is associated with It’s Texas Time offering FITness in the Park to help encourage physical activity and positive well-being community-wide. Free fitness classes are led by certified instructors and are suitable for all fitness levels and abilities.

Fitness classes start at 10 a.m. or 6 p.m.

APF also offers Playdates in the Park to activate families with young children. These events will include things like live story readings, creative moves, music, and more. You can get details of all the different lineups here.
